What is True Vault Hunter Mode (TVHM)?
Borderland's Version of New Game +
True Vault Hunter Mode is basically the New Game Plus of the Borderlands franchise. Playing in this mode increases the difficulty with enemies having more health and doling out more damage, but you earn better rewards in return.
Complete Main Story to Unlock TVHM
Unlocking True Vault Hunter Mode is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is complete the main story once and the mode will be available to play. Although it is unlocked, your game's progress will not be removed for the normal difficulty.
Restart's Story Progress in TVHM
Upon starting TVHM, players will have to redo the main story again in that mode. This is entirely separate from the normal difficulty & will not rewrite story progress there.
Keeps Items & Skills
In TVHM, players will retain their level and Skill Points, as well as all of their equipment. Weapons, Shields, Grenade Mods and other equipment in their inventory will be available at the start of the game.
Guardian Rank Levels Remain
Guardian Rank will not reset in True Vault Hunter Mode. Whatever level progress you made will carry over in this mode.

Tougher, Stronger Enemies
TVHM poses a higher difficulty with enemies doing more damage and taking more damage to be defeated. Regular enemies and bosses will all receive this damage and health increase. Some also become more resistant to specific damage types.
Better Loot
Stronger enemies means better loot! In TVHM, players will find items with higher stats compared to the ones they find in normal mode. When playing in TVHM, it's necessary to use better gear to survive and win fights.
Higher Chances of Loot Tinks
Loot Tinks are special enemies that come out of loot boxes randomly. Defeating one will have them drop a random legendary item. In TVHM, they're more likely to spawn.
Easier to Level Up
Defeating enemies give higher XP in TVHM. This makes it easier for players to reach the Level cap compared to playing in normal difficulty.
