How To Fix Lost Borderlands 3 Save Data

Hotfix Has Been Issued

A Hotfix has been implemented to resolve the issue. However, please note that lost progress cannot be recovered anymore.

When the conflict window appears, remember to choose the newer save file as it is more recent and holds more of your progress. Choosing an older save file may force you to start the game again at a lower level.

Cloud Sync Conflict May Erase Your Data

Several Borderlands 3 players have recently been affected by a conflict between their cloud and local save games. This may have lead to them losing progress to their characters. The issue has been addressed by Epic Games on a tweet.

May Happen When Playing On 2 Different PCs

This problem may be caused by playing on two different PCs. Progressing the game offline may conflict with the save data stored in Epic's Cloud servers. This will prompt to ask you to choose which save file to follow the next time you load the game.

Bug Does Not Show Conflict Window

A bug has caused the conflict window to not show up. This may cause the cloud to use an old save file as the latest save file has not been synced with the game.
