Clear Hardcore Within 10 Hours
You can unlock Ashley's Knight Armor costume by completing the main story on Hardcore within 10 hours. It is recommended to initially complete a play through on lower difficulty to obtain powerful weapon such as Infinite Rocket Launcher and use it in New Game Plus.
How To Get & Unlock Infinite Weapons?
Possible Even If Not On Hardcore
Since it is mentioned "Hardcore mode or higher", you can still obtain this costume even when you get A rank on Professional mode.

Invincible To Most Attacks
This costume enables Ashley to be immune to most attacks so you do not have to worry about Ashley getting debilitated during combat.
Can Also Mitigate Leon's Attacks
Equipping this armor on Ashley can also mitigate Leon's attacks from explosions & bullets which is an advantage in combat, especially when there are a lot of enemies.
Can Easily Complete Ashley's Part In The Story
With this, you can easily complete Ashley's part in the story. For instance, you can overturn the attacks of the armor in chapter 9 since Ashley does not take any damage as long as the armor is equipped.
Can No Longer Be Carried

In the castle, there are enemies that can carry Ashley during combat. This is no longer possible when Ashley is protected with the armor.
