Upgrade The Durability Of Knife
There are many instances where you use the knife such as parrying, counterattacking when grabbed, & stealth kills. By increasing its durability, the knife can be used more so it is recommended to upgrade it from the beginning.
Starting Pistols Weapons Are Great
You can get several pistols as you play chapters 1-6 of the story but the starting pistols are convenient to use. You can easily obtain ammo for the starting weapons making it useful in the long run.
DLC Weapon: Sentinel Nine Is Also Amazing
You can get a bonus weapon in chapter 1 if you purchased the deluxe edition. Even if it has slightly lower damage than the starting pistol, it is recommended more because it has a better ammo capacity compared to the starting pistol.
Focus On 1 Weapon For Damage
It is recommended to equip one heavily invested weapon in case you get into a dangerous situation. Shotguns are recommended primarily for its easy usage.
Bolt Thrower Is Great For Saving Bullets
In terms of Power and Specs, Bolt Thrower is only a little stronger than handguns or pistols. The arrows that you shoot can be picked up enabling you to save on ammo. You can also craft mine bolts but these bolts cannot be picked up. Mine bolts are great for battles against groups.

When selling an upgraded weapon, the reimbursement may not be 100% but the selling value you can get from it is high. Once you obtain a better weapon that you prefer to use more, sell the upgraded weapon then use the money to upgrade the better one.
