Mass Outbreak Shiny Guide

Take Advantage Of Massive Mass Outbreaks

What Are Mass Outbreaks

A Massive Mass Outbreak occurs when the weather is raining heavily or during a snowstorm. Since Pokemon appear randomly in all areas of the map during Massive Mass Outbreaks, you're bound to encounter a larger variety of Pokemon compared to just a Mass Outbreak. The chance of shiny Pokemon appearing is increased by 12.

How To Check For Shiny Pokemon?

Different Colors In Overworld

In other Pokemon titles, you can only check if the Pokemon is a shiny variant during the battle. In this game, you can immediately know if a Pokemon is a shiny variant based on their color scheme during free roam.

Additional Effects

Another way to determine whether a Pokemon is a shiny variant is to look out for the "special effects". Shiny Pokemon will spawn with these "special effects" instead of spawning normally. Additional effects can also be seen when attempting to catch a shiny Pokemon.

How To Find And Catch A Shiny Pokemon?

Look For Mass Outbreaks

Finding Shiny Pokemon
Check for any Mass Outbreaks on the map.
Go to the Mass Outbreak location.
Look for a shiny Pokemon.
Once you found a shiny Pokemon, save beforehand then try to capture it.
If there are no shiny Pokemon, move to another area.
Head to the new Mass Outbreak (repeat steps ⑤ & ⑥ until you find the Pokemon Mass Outbreak you want).

If you looking for a specific shiny Pokemon, heading to Mass Outbreak areas will be great for shiny hunting. Since you cannot control which Pokemon is present during a Mass Outbreak, it is recommended to always check what Pokemon is present during Mass Outbreaks.

Save Before Looking For A Shiny Pokemon

After arriving at the location where the Mass Outbreak occurs, it is recommended to save your game and turn off auto-save. Doing this will allow you to reset the spawns if you do not find a shiny Pokemon during that Mass Outbreak.

Keep Moving Locations To Change Mass Outbreaks

Moving to different locations will change the Pokemon present during a Mass Outbreak. Constantly moving to different locations is recommended when you are looking for a specific shiny Pokemon.

Take Advantage Of A Mass Outbreak

Mass Outbreak

During a Mass Outbreak, a variety of Pokemon should appear throughout the area. Although the chance is not as high as normal Pokemon, still there is a pretty good chance of getting a Shiny Pokemon, so be sure to take advantage of these outbreaks.

Increase Your Efficiency With Aguav Berries

Aguav Berries

The kind of Pokemon and where they appear in mass outbreaks can be difficult to confirm. If you speak with Mai and hand over Aguav Berries, you’ll be able to instantly reveal all Pokemon on your map, making your hunt much more efficient.

What Is A Shiny Pokemon?

Special Pokemon That Has A Very Low Chance Of Appearing

shiny

▲ The light blue Pokemon in the back is the non-shiny one, while the orange Pokemon is considered to be the shiny one.

Shiny Pokemon is a special type of Pokemon that has a different appearance than its original variant.

Same Stats As Their Normal Variant

There is no difference in stats between a shiny variant and the original variant of a Pokemon. Shiny Pokemon are more of a collector's item because of their very low spawn rate and their special effects when sending them out.
