What Are Effort Levels? Is Farming Needed?

Effort Level is the number next to the status, and the higher the effort level, the higher your base stats will increase. Effort Values (EVs) and Individual Values (IVs) from the previous titles are no longer present in this game. Instead, Effort Levels were introduced as a new system.

Alpha Pokemon's Initial Effort Level Is High.

Alpha Pokemon usually has a higher level of initial effort level than normal Pokemon. However, there is no difference in status from normal Pokemon, only the initial effort level is high.

No Need To Farm High Effort Level Pokemon

Since Effort Levels are randomly generated when captured, it is practically possible to farm for them. However, you will be able to increase Effort Levels using specific items in the game.

You can obtain grit items efficiently when you release Pokemon in the Pasture or Base Camp. The grit items you will receive is based on the level of the captured Pokemon. Be sure to release your unused Pokemon each time you return from an expedition!

* If you set free a level 9 Pokemon or below, you may not obtain a Grit Item!

Obtained When Capturing Or Defeating Pokemon

Grit items can also be obtained with a low probability when capturing or defeating Pokemon. Alpha Pokemon have a high chance of dropping Exp Candies and Grit Items. Try to defeat them if you want to collect these useful items for increasing experience and effort levels!

Exchange At The Training Grounds

Grit Items can also be exchanged at the Training Grounds from Zisu. However, the items required for exchanging are also Grit Items so it can be a bit expensive.
