The Open Alpha starts on Friday, September 18 10am PT. Players can pre-load the game to immediately jump into the action once the servers open.
PS4-Exclusive Open Alpha
The open alpha for COD Cold War is only available to Playstation 4 owners. There is still no news if the alpha is going to come to the Xbox One or the PC. However, Open Beta schedules for all platforms have already been released.

PS4 owners that are not subscribed to PS Plus can enjoy the game as it doesn't require it. Simply download it and run to join the fray.
Multiplayer-Only Preview
This preview of COD Cold War contains only the multiplayer aspect of the game. There is still no news if there will be a story demo that would give us a glimpse of the single-player campaign.
Progress Does Not Carry Over
Same with the alpha and beta versions of the previous Call of Duty titles, COD Cold War's open alpha will very likely to delete all player progress once it ends.

Players looking forward to join the alpha can start pre-loading the COD Cold War on September 17, 8AM PT.
How To Preload COD Cold War
- On your PS4 home screen, navigate to the PS Store
- Search for Cold War
- Select "Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War - Alpha" to download the game
Requires About 25 GB Of Space
You need to have about 25 GB of free space in order to download the open alpha of COD Cold War. If you find yourself scrambling for disk space, delete games that you don't play anymore to make room.
