Difficulty Levels & Max Difficulty

DifficultyLevel Details
CasualRecommended level for beginners. This difficulty mode lets players enjoy the storyline, gameplay, and puzzles without too much struggle in defeating enemies in the game.
StandardA great level for players who appreciate the sense of accomplishment in defeating difficult enemies. This mode is best for those who have played the game before and are good with action controls.
HardcoreThis level is for those who want the thrill of being in imminent danger with little chances to escape. This is recommended for players who don't mind putting extra effort into the game.
Village of ShadowsThe most difficult level of the game and is accessible after clearing the game. Purchase the Trauma Pack DLC to be able to play it right from the start. This may be the "Madhouse" of RE8.

Difficulty Level Differences

Differences In Levels
・Enemy: HP, Speed, & Damage Dealt
・The ability (or lack thereof) to naturally heal
・Different enemy placements (Village Of Shadows Only)

The difficulty level will affect how fast & easily you'll be able to progress through the game. The Casual level will give you enemies with lower HP and attack at the start, and will increase as you move further into the game's story. The Village Of Shadows level features more resilient enemies that drop more Lei.

How To Change Difficulty Settings - Options

The difficulty is chosen at the very start of the game. You may choose from 3 options: Casual, Standard, or Hardcore. We recommend Casual or Standard for first-timers and Hardcore for seasoned players.

Village Of Shadows (Max Difficulty) Once Cleared

If you've cleared the game for the first time or has bought the DLC, you'll gain access to the Village Of Shadows Difficulty, which is the highest the game can offer.

I think it's made for those who unlock infinite ammo in weapons. Honestly I do. Cuz even with infinite ammo in the automatic weapons and more it's still a challenge
