RE8 - Difficulty Levels & Differences
RE8 Difficulty Levels & Max Difficulty
|Casual||Recommended level for beginners. This difficulty mode lets players enjoy the storyline, gameplay, and puzzles without too much struggle in defeating enemies in the game.|
|Standard||A great level for players who appreciate the sense of accomplishment in defeating difficult enemies. This mode is best for those who have played the game before and are good with action controls.|
|Hardcore||This level is for those who want the thrill of being in imminent danger with little chances to escape. This is recommended for players who don't mind putting extra effort into the game.|
|Village of Shadows||The most difficult level of the game. Purchase the Trauma Pack DLC to be able to play it right from the start. It's expected to be the "Madhouse" of RE8.|
RE8 Difficulty Level Differences
* Some info is based on RE7, the previous game in the series.
|Differences In Levels|
|・Enemy: HP, Speed, & Damage Dealt|
・Locations of items
・Number of checkpoints
・Number of autosaves
・The ability (or lack thereof) to naturally heal
The difficulty you choose will affect how fast and easily you'll be able to progress through the game. The Casual level will give you enemies with lower HP and attack power at the start, and will increase as you move further into the game's story. In RE7, the most difficult level made it impossible to save without a special item, and HP did not recover naturally with time.
Possibly Linked To Trophies
In RE7, the trophies you receive depend on the level you choose. If the newest game follows the same pattern, we may expect to see something similar this time around as well.
RE8 - How To Change Difficulty Level
Set Difficulty At The Start
The difficulty may be chosen at the very start of the game. We recommend Casual or Standard for first-timers and Hardcore for seasoned players.
Impossible To Change Midway In RE7
In Resident Evil 7, it was impossible to change the difficulty level once you've started the game. It was the same in the RE8 demo, so there's a large chance that it would be the same in the actual game. This means that you'll have to either clear the whole game first or start over if you want to change the difficulty.
