They Attack Using Weapons
Humanoids are enemies that use Weapons to attack, just like Raiders, and their attack patterns change depending on the Weapons they're holding. They also use Guard, so if you attack carelessly, they may hit you with a Counterattack.
| Tips! | Use ranged attacks and Guard Counterattacks to gain an advantage in battle. |
How to Defeat Humanoids
Use Ranged Deathblows
You can land a ranged Deathblow when the Humanoid has its back turned or is running toward you. The Deathblow from the fast-attacking Wheel Blade is particularly recommended.
Magnetic Staff's Deathblow is also Effective
The Magnetic Staff's Deathblow, which is strong in PvP, is also effective against Humanoids. You can destroy their Exoskeleton with the Deathblow's suction, and then follow up with a combo to deal massive Damage.
| Tips! | Be aware that the Damage dealt will be significantly lower if you use a low-Rarity Magnetic Staff. |
Attack from a Distance with Guard Breaks
Guard Breaks that let you attack while maintaining distance are highly recommended for their safety. The easiest to use are Guard Break Attack Combo 2, using Wheel Blade and Fireworks Shooter, which is hard to counter because you backstep while attacking, and the second attack lets you fire bullets quickly from a long range.
| Recommended Ranged Guard Breaks | - Guard Break Attack Combo 2 (Wheel Blade x Fireworks Shooter, etc.) - Guard Break Attack Combo 6 (Fireworks Shooter x2, etc.) |

Land Guard Breaks at Close Range
Landing Guard Breaks at close range is also effective. However, be aware that if you use a Guard Breaks with a slow startup, the Humanoid's Normal Attack may interrupt your attack.
| Recommended Close-Range Guard Breaks | - Guard Break Attack Pattern 1 (Katana x Katana, etc.) - Guard Break Attack Pattern 3 (Katana x Arm, etc.) |
Guard Normal Attacks and Counterattack
Humanoids have a high chance of following up their Normal Attack with subsequent attacks. When you see a Normal Attack, quickly Guard and hit them with a Counterattack. The Katana, Bat, Wheel Blade, Magnetic Staff, Odachi, Arm, and Hammer are straightforward to counterattack with.
Evade Normal Attacks and Immediately Counterattack
Evading their Normal Attack and then quickly counterattacking is also an effective strategy. This is especially true if the Humanoid is wielding slow weapons like the Greatsword or Hammer; evade and then attack.
Beware of Guard Breaks
If you Guard, the Humanoid will use a Guard Break. If it hits while you're guarding, it can lead to attacks that significantly reduce your Health, so be careful not to rely too much on Guard.
Evade or Guard Enemy Deathblows
If a Humanoid uses a Deathblow, evade or Guard to defend against it. Be especially careful of the Deathblows from the Wheel Blade, which can attack from range; the Katana, which is fast and hard to react to; and the Evil Rod, which has strong tracking and inflicts Judgment status on hit.
Beware of the Sealed Portrait's Counterattack
If a Humanoid has a Sealed Portrait, it will also use Counterattacks with the Sealed Portrait's Normal Attack. The Sealed Portrait can also Counterattack Guard Breaks, so if a Humanoid has a Sealed Portrait, avoid using careless melee attacks.
