How to Prepare for Gaping Jaw (Adel) and What to Do Before Day 3

  1. Use Poison Affinity Weapons
    - Inflict Poison
  2. Increase Sacred Flasks at the Church
  3. Prepare Warming Stones and Neutralizing Boluses

Use Poison Affinity Weapons

Gaping jaw is weak to Poison Affinity.Inflicting Poison status will cause it to perform a spitting motion, leaving it defenseless for a certain period. Therefore, prepare Poison Affinity weapons before challenging it. Ranged weapons like bows make it easier to inflict Poison, so they are highly recommended.

Poison Affinity Weapon in Ruins

easy to access

The Affinity is displayed at the bottom right of the base icon on the map. Poison Affinity weapons are easier to obtain at bases where Poison Affinity is displayed so be sure to clear them by the final day.

Increase Sacred Flasks at the Church

To increase the number of Heals, make sure to increase the number of Sacred Flasks. Sacred Flasks can be increased at a Church, and you can check their locations on the map.

Prepare "Warming Stones" and "Neutralizing Boluses"

In the area just before the boss, you can purchase various items with Runes. The more Heal methods you have, the easier it is to strategize, so purchase "Warming Stones". Also, Gaping Jaw attacks by spreading Poison Mist, so if you're worried, preparing them beforehand is safer.

Gaping Jaw (Adel) Boss Strategy and Attack Patterns

Attack From Behind

Gaping Jaw has many motions that attack a wide area in front, such as Bite, Crack, and Charge. Be mindful of attacking from behind the boss and position yourself, evading by circling around according to the boss's movements, to reduce damage taken.

Becareful of Lingering Poison

When sticking close to the boss to attack, pay attention not only to the boss's direction but also to the continuous damage from the Poison. If you are within its range, your HP will be rapidly depleted, putting you in a dangerous situation even without being poisoned.

Marked Player Should Focus on Survival

Marked

Gaping Jaw tends to persistently target players who have the red target mark. Players who are targeted should focus on evading as much as possible to avoid taking damage.

Keep Your Distance at 50% HP or Less

When its HP drops to 50% or less, it enters an enhanced state. After accumulating energy, it unleashes a shockwave that deals massive damage over a wide area, so if you see the telegraph, quickly create distance.

In Enhanced State, Focus on Survival

In the enhanced state, its attack power and range are significantly strengthened. After enhancement, even the area behind the boss is no longer safe. Therefore, focus on hit-and-run tactics, landing 1-2 hits during openings, and minimize the time spent in close proximity.
