How to Two-Hand
Press △ Button and Attack Button

To two-hand in Nightreign, simultaneously press the △ button + the attack button (L1 or R1). Press L1 to two-hand your left-hand weapon, or R1 for your right-hand weapon.
Press Again to Cancel
To cancel two-handing, perform the two-handing button input again. You cannot switch directly from two-handing one weapon to two-handing the other, so switch in the order of: two-hand → one-hand → other hand.
Benefits of Two-Handing
- Strength increases by x1.5
- Attacks are less likely to be deflected
- Attack pattern changes
- Can use Weapon Skill when two-handing
- Some weapons become dual-wield
When two-handing in Nightreign, your Strength increases by x1.5, and your attacks are less likely to be deflected. Additionally, attack pattern changes, you can use the Weapon Skill of your equipped weapon, and some weapons allow dual-wielding.
Strength Increases by x1.5
When two-handing, Strength increases by 1.5x, and if the weapon has Strength Scaling, the damage output will increase. The higher the Strength Scaling, the greater the benefit, so two-handing is recommended when using Colossal Weapons, etc.
Attacks Are Less Likely to be Deflected

Two-handed attacks are less likely to be deflected compared to one-handed attacks. They are less likely to be deflected not only by enemy shields but also by walls and objects, making them suitable for fighting in narrow spaces. Also, since they are not deflected by enemy guards, their ability to break guards is also high.
Attack Pattern Changes
Attack patterns differ between two-handing and one-handing. The attack range and swing speed change, so it's possible to switch between them depending on the situation.
Can Use Weapon Skill When Two-Handing

When two-handing, the Weapon Skill of the right-hand weapon takes priority. To use the left-hand weapon's Weapon Skill, you must two-hand it. Similarly, if your shield has a Weapon Skill, it will override the weapon's, so to activate the right-hand weapon’s Weapon Skill, you’ll need to two-hand it.
Some Weapons Become Dual-Wield

Some weapons, such as Fist and Claw weapons, become dual wielding when two-handed. You can fight with dual-wielding patterns without needing to collect two of the same weapon type, which is useful when you want to increase the number of attacks.
Dual-Wield Weapons When Two-Handed
Cons of Two-Handing
Cannot Use a Shield

The cons of two-handing in Nightreign is that you can no longer use a shield. When two-handing, you guard with your weapon, and the guard negation is significantly lower than with a shield, so those who rely on a guard-focused playstyle should be careful.
