Movement Controls
Sprint
In Nightreign, Torrent/Mounts are unavailable. Instead, players have an enhanced sprint
that moves even faster than dashing with the ◯ button. When traveling long distances, make use of the sprint feature to get to your destination faster.
Wall Jump
Players can launch themselves off walls or surfaces to reach even greater heights. Additionally, players can also mantle over certain objects by jumping towards them.
Spiritstream Jump
Pressing ✕ near or above a Spiritstream triggers a Spiritstream Jump
that launches the player high up into the air. These Spiritstreams are often located at the bottom of cliffs or chasms, and their locations can also be seen on the map.
Summon Spectral Hawk
Pressing △ while under a Spectral Hawk Tree will summon a Spectral Hawk that will grab the player and fly in the direction of the air current. This is a quick way to travel long distances, so utilize Spectral Hawks when the air currents match your destination.
Combat Controls
Skills and Arts
△ + L2 triggers Character Skills, while △ + R2 activates Ultimate Arts. Each one can significantly impact how battle will play out, so familiarize yourself with your character and make full use of your abilities.Character Skills will recharge over time and Ultimates rely on a gauge that fills via attacks.
List of All CharactersWeapon Skill
When equipped with a weapon that has a Weapon Skill, pressing L2 will consume some FP and execute that Weapon Skill. When Dual-Wielding armaments that both have weapon skills, the armament on your left hand takes priority. You can alternatively two-hand the armament in your right hand to use that weapon skill instead.
Sorcery and Incantation
By equipping a catalyst such as a Staff or a Sacred Seal, you can cast the granted sorceries or incantations. Note that FP is required to cast these spells.
Guard Counter
If you press R2 immediately after guarding with L1, you can perform what is known as a Guard Counter
. Guard Counters tend to break the foe's stance, so stay alert for potential follow-up Critical Strikes.
Lightning Dodge
By performing a well-timed roll against enemies who are glowing dark blue/violet, you can perform what is known as a Lightning Dodge. These dodges build-up your Ultimate Arts Guage, and it also becomes easier to connect with a counterattack.
