How to Play with Friends

There are two ways to play with friends in Nightreign: 'Set a Password' or 'Use Team Session'. Both can be set when you commence an expedition from the Site of Grace at the Roundtable Hold.

Setting the Same Multiplayer Password

Enter Password Here

In expedition matchmaking, you can play with friends by entering the same "Multiplayer Password". On the target selection screen before deploying, press R1 to access the Password settings menu. Once the Password is set, press R1 again and start from the target screen.

Multiplayer Password Settings

Multiplayer PasswordPlayers who have set the same Password can match with each other.
Password Application CountSet the limit of players for matching using the Multiplayer Password.
If set to 2 players, the remaining player will be matched with a player who has not set a Password.
Group PasswordNot required for multiplayer.
If set, Phantoms of people with the same Group Password will be prioritized for display.

When matchmaking for expeditions, you can invite players to form a team. Players can be invited via Search function or by sharing a link, allowing friends to play together in multiplayer.

When playing as a team, the player who invited others to the team will designate the target. If there are differences in game progression, be aware that undiscovered game content may be revealed.

If Matching Fails, Canceling Once is Recommended

If matchmaking for expeditions take too long, cancel the matching once and then pressing "Commence Expedition" again may resolve the issue.

When playing with friends in Nightreign, PlayStation and Xbox will require a monthly subscription. Only the Steam version does not require a subscription meaning you can enjoy multiplayer immediately after purchasing the game.

No Crossplay Between Different Platforms Available

Nightreign does not support crossplay between different platforms. Multiplayer is only possible between devices from the same platforms (i.e Xbox players with other Xbox players, PC players with fellow PC players).

Cannot Start with Only Two Players

Currently, Nightreign's multiplayer is for 3 players. You cannot commence with only two friends; if there are not enough players, the remaining slots will automatically be filled by random players.
