How to Read the Map Guide & Icons Meanings

Maps are essential in Elden Ring Nightreign. Learn how to open and use the map, interpret icons, and navigate effectively through Limveld.

Map Icons Explained

Map Icons and Symbols Explained

Icon	Description/What you can do
Site of Grace	- Heal HP/FP/status ailments - Replenish Sacred Flask - Level up by consuming Runes - Reset near-death gauge
Church	- Increase Sacred Flask refills
Spiritstream	- Can jump to high places
Spectral Hawk Tree	- Summon a Spectral Hawk and fly in the direction of the airflow - Can fly over places with height differences
Tunnel Entrance	- Entrance to enter the Tunnel - Proceeding inside leads to another Tunnel entrance - Can obtain Smithing Stone used for weapon enhancement
Gaol	- Examine the Imp Statue to make a strong enemy appear - Requires a Stone Sword Key
Great Church	- Bosses appear on the surface or underground - Multiple enemies appear
Sorcerer's Rise	- Entrance is sealed - Need to destroy the crest near the tower - There is Dormant Power at the top
Castle	- Bosses appear at the top and underground - There are rare items after defeating them - Strong enemies appear near the central stairs - Multiple enemies appear - There is a Merchant nearby
Fort	- Boss appears - Multiple enemies appear - There is a Merchant nearby - Can check surrounding map information inside the tower
Large Camps	- Boss and multiple enemies appear - There is a Merchant nearby
Ruins	- Boss and multiple enemies appear - There are multiple treasure chests underground
Scarab	- Scarab appears - Drops a Talisman when defeated
Field Boss	- Boss appears
Buried Treasure	- There is a hidden treasure chest
Township	- There is a Merchant who sells rare goods
Mission Objective	- Objective marked according to the situation

Take Damage in Blue Areas

The blue-painted areas on the map indicate where the Night's Tide is falling, and you will take damage simply by being there. The Night's Tide closes in over time, narrowing your range of movement, so plan your progression strategy accordingly. Eventually, you will face the day's boss in a location where the rain is not falling.

How to Open and Use Map

Open the Map with the Touchpad Button

The Elden Ring Nightreign map can be opened with the touchpad button. You can check the map immediately after starting the game.

Display Underground With D-pad Down Button

While the map is displayed, pressing the D-pad down button allows you to check the underground map. Use this when exploring Tunnels.

Place a Pin With the R3 Button

You can place a pin by pressing the R3 button on the map. Use it as a communication tool, such as telling your companions where you are heading.

Pin Changes if Placed on Another Player's Pin

If you place a pin in the same location as a pin placed by another person, the pin's appearance will change. Use this when you want to agree with a destination specified by someone else.

Switch Pins with the D-pad

Pressing left or right on the D-pad allows you to switch pins. Use this when you want to change pins.

Display Map Details With the △ Button

Pressing the △ button opens the map details. On the details screen, you can check the locations of Merchants, obtainable weapons, and more.

Zoom In / Out Map with R2 / L2

Press R2 to zoom in on the map, and press L2 to zoom out. Adjust the map state according to the situation.
