Dante is the original protagonist of the Devil May Cry series. Half-human and half-demon, he continues to protect the human world from the onslaught of demons. In Devil May Cry 5, he goes back into the fray by request of a client.

A young Devil Hunter, Nero lost his demonic arm (and the ability to summon a Devil Trigger) before Devil May Cry 5. Nero now faces the demonic forces with Devil Breakers, a prosthetic arm created for him by Nico.

Besides his sword and revolver, Nero is able to use prosthetic arms called Devil Breakers. Devil Breakers allow Nero to make powerful attacks, depending on what he equips. It also lets him use the ability Wire Snatch - sending a wire that can pull enemies towards Nero or bring Nero closer to his targets.
