Vergil - Moves & Abilities
Charging Sword Attack
When Vergil stays in place and lowers his knees, holding his sword's hilt, he's setting up for a sword attack that can be a variation of two types of moves - a forward sword rush attack or summoning of energy balls.
Rush Forward
Vergil will rush forward towards your direction in a flurry of sword slashes.
Energy Balls
Balls of purple energy will be summoned and sent flying towards where you are.
Weapon Deflect
After some time, Vergil will start deflecting your weapon attacks. This works for both swords and guns.
Energy Daggers
Energy beams will surround Vergil and he will send them flying off towards you. They have piercing power and can damage you when they connect.
Charged Multi-Slash
When Vergil charges in the center of the battlefield, he is preparing for a very powerful multi-slash attack. You'll know he is charging up for this move when there is a circle around him.
Move That is Hard To Avoid
This is one of Vergil's hardest moves to avoid. Make sure your life bar is full or pretty high to avoid getting defeated.
Devil Trigger / Demon Form
Vergil activates his Devil Trigger and turns into his demon form in this fight. This makes him move faster and inflict bigger damage. This does not replenish his HP bar.
Variation Of Sword Moves
In his demon form, Vergil will perform a series of varied sword attacks. These can range from his rushing forward slashes and several energy balls.
Forward Rush Flight Attack
When demon form Vergil moves to the center of the field and starts flying upward, watch out. He will do a series of flight attacks of him rushing forward towards you.
Vergil Boss Fight Tips
Vergil's Moves Are Same In Mission 19-20
In Mission 19 & 20, Vergil's moves will be the same when you fight him as Dante or Nero. Study his above moves well and you'll be able to bring his HP down and defeat him.

Use Different Weapons To Catch Vergil Offguard
Vergil will adapt to a weapon and deflect it if you keep using it too much. Switch between Dante's different styles and Nero's Devil Breakers to catch him off-guard and create an opening for a combo.

Constantly Dodge & Move Around
Don't stay in one place as Vergil has a number of long-range moves that can get you if you stay still. Move around the arena and dodge to your sides whenever you see him gearing up for an attack.
Don't Melee Vergil When He has Floating Energy Daggers
The daggers that surround Vergil will damage you if you get close to it. Save yourself from getting unnecessary damage by simply staying away until the daggers are gone.
Match Vergil's Devil Trigger When He Shifts
Vergil becomes stronger and faster when he activates his Devil Trigger. Match it with your own to level the playing field. Try to do as much damage as you can before it runs out.
