Complete Contracts

Recommended Contracts

The easiest contract is Deliver Cargo, which is especially good if you are playing solo. Outlast and Raid Weapon Stash are also recommended since you only need to deal with normal zombies.

Pack-a-Punch Your Weapon

To get Essence, you want to complete as many contracts as you can. Start by obtaining 5,000 Essence in the Low Threat Zone so that you can Pack-a-Punch your weapon to Level 1. This will make it a lot easier to complete more contracts and also safer to go to the Yellow Zone.

Go To The Yellow Zone

Your main source of Essence will be completing Contracts in the Yellow Zone. It is a lot safer than the Red Zone and the rewards are better than the Low Threat Zone.

Pack-a-Punch To Level 2

You can upgrade your weapon again once you have 10,000 Essence. This will give you more options than sticking to the easy contracts like Deliver Cargo.

Other Sources Of Essence

Selling Items

buy station

You can sell items at a Buy Station for some extra Essence. This is useful when you are just a little short to upgrade your weapon. You may want to hold on to anything worth more than 500 Essence if you find it.

Loot Around The Map

You can also find Essence in cache boxes and you will also find some scattered around the map. You can also shoot Harvester Orbs that randomly spawn to get Essence as well.

Registers Sometimes Have Essence

Gas stations usually have stores next to them with registers that carry about 100 to 500 Essence. Loot the stores and don't forget the registers on the counters. Some Aether Nests are the shops and have registers in them so grab them as well.

Tombstone Soda

Bring Over Essence To Next Game

When you use Tombstone Soda, you can leave your items and Essence on the map for your next game. Once you collect all the Essence you can, drink the Tombstone Soda and die to retrieve it when you come back. Then you can start where you left off to get more Essence.

Where To Get Tombstone Soda

You can buy them from vending machines, find them as loot or rewards, and you can also craft them if you have the Schematics.
