You can obtain Aerodactyl ex from the booster pack Mythical Island. Alternatively, it can be exchanged for 500 Pack Points.

How to Use Aerodactyl Ex

Disrupt Evolutions

Primeval Law is a powerful ability that stops the opponent from evolving their active pokemon. While this ability only affects the opponent's active pokemon, this ability remains active even while Aerodactyl ex is on the bench.

Counters Stage 1-Focused Decks

Easy Counters		Hard to Counter

Aerodactyl Ex is especially powerful against aggro decks that focus on evolving and using their active pokemon, such as Primeape Decks, and Koga Decks.

It may not be as powerful against decks that prefer building their pokemon on the bench, such as Venusaur ex Decks, Charizard ex decks, Greninja and Hypno.

Prevents Evolution Cures

The cheapest way to cure status effects like Poison and Asleep is by evolving. Therefore, Aerodactyl ex can amplify these effects when combined with pokemon that apply these statuses. Consider pairing Aerodactyl ex with Wigglytuff ex when building your deck!

Deals Significant Damage

Land Crush deals a significant 80 damage for 2 energy, which can be increased further with Giovanni.

While you cannot OHKO Pikachu ex, being able to 2-turn kill Mewtwo ex is certainly commendable.

Aerodactyl ex Pros and Cons

Consistent High Damage

Aerodactyl ex's Attack, which deals 80 damage for 2 Energy, is extremely powerful. While it has similar performance to Marowak ex, another Fighting Pokemon ex, Aerodactyl ex is easier to use due to its consistent damage output.

Treat Its Ability as a Bonus

Aerodactyl's Ability, which prevents Active Spot Pokemon from Evolving, is quite situational. Since Pokemon on the Bench can still Evolve, it’s best to treat this Ability as a bonus rather than a core strategy.

Hard to Get on the Field

Old Amber, the pre-evolution of Aerodactyl ex, cannot be drawn using Poke Ball's "Put 1 random Basic Pokemon" effect. As a result, it’s quite challenging to get Aerodactyl ex onto the field.

Evolving from Fossil Can Also Be a Benefit

While evolving from Fossil is generally a drawback, depending on the deck, it can make it easier to include other Basic Pokemon in your starting hand which can be a benefit.

Considering this, rather than building a deck centered around Aerodactyl ex, it’s better to use it as a sub-attacker alongside other attackers to create a deck that maximizes Aerodactyl ex's potential.
