How To Evolve and Conditions in Pokemon TCG Pocket (Pokemon Card App). Includes rules in evolving, their advantages, and difference of basic and ex cards in Pokemon TCGP.

Evolution Conditions

  1. A card icon on the top left is required
  2. Can only evolve on the next turn
  3. Status conditions are healed by evolving
  4. ex Pokemon are treated as separate Pokemon

Icon On The Top Left Is Required

A Card Icon On The Top Left Is Required

If the Pokemon required for the evolution is in the field, you can play the evolved Pokemon. Pokemon cards that evolve show the required Pokemon as an icon next to their name on the left side of the card.

Can Only Evolve on the Next Turn

  1. Basic Pokemon available
  2. Cannot use Stage 2 Pokemon

You must wait for one turn after playing a Pokemon before evolving it. Even if you have a Basic Pokemon, you cannot evolve directly from Stage 1 to Stage 2 in one turn. Also, you cannot evolve during the first turn, regardless of whether you go first or second.

Status Conditions Healed By Evolving

If a Pokemon with a special condition like "Poison" or "Paralyze" evolves, it will recover from the special condition. It is important to remember this to your advantage.

Ex Pokemon Treated As Separate Pokemon

Pikachu exRaichu

Even though Raichu lists Pikachu as its required pre-evolution, it cannot evolve from Pikachu ex. Only Pokemon whose names match exactly can be evolved.

How To Evolve

1.
Step 1
Play a Basic Pokemon on the field and wait one turn.
2.
Step 2
Choose an Evolution Pokemon from your hand and drag it onto the Basic Pokemon.
(Cards that can evolve will glow gold.)
3.
Step 3
The Pokemon on the field evolves, and any status conditions are healed.
Item and Supporter effects do not disappear after evolving.
