Magnus Pros and Strength

Significantly Weakens Nearby Enemies

1

Magnus comes equipped with a powerful Trait that weakens all nearby enemies. When you activate his Skill [Cry of Victory], it not only debuffs enemies but also boosts your allies—just by getting close to enemies, Magnus can shift the tide of battle through counters.

Also Has a Leader's Aura

2

Magnus has a Leader's Aura that greatly empowers units from the Fortitude Faction. He provides consistent buffs to allies, and when teamed up with other strong Fortitude characters like Gloria and Cocoa, the synergy can be extremely powerful. Try building a squad around them if available.

Sturdy Frontliner with High Damage

Magnus’s damage output scales with his P.DEF, allowing him to combine tankiness with solid offensive power. Though his official Role is Defender, his true strength lies in being a high-damage dealer who also applies debuffs.

Low Mobility

Magnus shines in close-quarters combat, but he lacks movement skills and struggles with height differences. To maximize his impact, you’ll need to support him with Tactical Skills, mobility gear, or other characters who can help him close the gap.

Star Level Up Priority & Recommended Stars for Magnus

Aim to Reach 3★ → 5★

Star Level Up PriorityRecommended Star Level
A Tier3★ → 5★

Magnus has a powerful and unique trait, making him a high priority for star level upgrades. At 3-stars, his attack and defense debuffs increase from -8% to -12%, boosting his support value. If you want to enhance him further, aim for 5-stars to extend the range of his debuffs, as well as increase their potency.

Priority Skills

Skillbuild Priority and Details
Mountain BreakerMountain Breaker★★★★★
A single-target attack Skill that also triggers [Cry of Victory]. Since this Skill supports Magnus's strength, prioritize it for builds when utilizing [Cry of Victory].
Cry of VictoryCry of Victory★★★★★
A powerful conditional Skill that increases damage dealt by allies in a wide area and applies powerful debuffs that lower enemy attack all at once. Prioritize it for slots unless other allies can apply similar buffs/debuffs.
Bloodthirsty AxeBloodthirsty Axe★★★★★
A Reaction that allows Strike Back with Basic Attack. Therefore, with [Mighty Swing], it becomes an AoE attack, and with [Feverish Attack], Life Steal occurs. Since Magnus often positions himself in the front, use this Reaction in your build.
Mighty SwingMighty Swing★★★★★
A Basic Attack that can deal damage over a wide area. Slot when focusing on multi-target battles.
Foreceful CastForeceful Cast★★★★
A unique Skill that allows throwing enemies or some objects to distant places. It can neutralize troublesome enemies by throwing them off cliffs or into low ground, or deal massive AoE damage by throwing gunpowder barrels. Often useful, especially in multi-target battles.
Blood & SteelBlood & Steel★★★★
A Leader's Aura that greatly strengthens allies. Since includes powerful characters like Cocoa and Gloria, include it if they are present in the party.
Feverish AttackFeverish Attack★★★★
A Basic Attack with a Life Steal effect. Since it also enables Life Steal when Striking Back with [Bloodthirsty Axe], slot it when prioritizing durability.

HardeningHardening★★★
If you want to reduce damage taken, use this Reaction in your build.
Crushing BashCrushing Bash★★★
An excellent Skill that inflicts a 20% increased damage taken debuff + deals 120% damage at no cost. Use when in single-target or boss battles when other characters cannot apply a similar debuff.
Iron ChariotIron Chariot★★
NRG consumption is high at 4, but it's a single-target attack Skill with very high damage dealt. Use in build when NRG Recovery is possible from other characters, or when lacking damage in single-target battles.
Offensive StanceOffensive Stance
Increases damage taken, but it's an Instant Skill that can add 40% of P.DEF to P.ATK. Use in build when you want to boost damage dealt.

Recommended Gear, Tarots, & Engravings

Recommended Weapons for Magnus

Hollow AxeHollow AxeFeast AxeFeast AxeBrutal AxeBrutal Axe

Since Magnus' Trait adds a portion of his P.DEF to his P.ATK when attacking, the [Hollow Axe] is an obvious choice for him. Otherwise, you could also use [Feast Axe] or [Brutal Axe] as both options work well with frontliners.

Recommended Trinkets for Magnus

Space-time RingSpace-time RingCrystal Burst ArmorCrystal Burst ArmorOld Scrolls of AugusteOld Scrolls of Auguste

[Space-time Ring] simultaneously supplements Magnus' low movement and allows him to reliably protect allies. Alternatively, [Crystal Burst Armor] enhances Magnus' [Strike Back]s, and [Disaster Bottle] is a good choice for single-target battles.

Recommended Tarots for Magnus

Destruction of The TowerDestruction of The TowerMarch of The ChariotMarch of The ChariotTemptation of The DevilTemptation of The Devil

For [Strike Back] builds, [The Tower] synergizes well with Magnus against multiple enemies. [The Chariot] for enhanced Move and [The Devil] for offense/defense boosts are ideal.

Magnus engravings can be minmaxed depending on how you intend to play him. If you want to lean towards offense, [Sword + Cup] is best for the [Life Steal]. If you're considering a [Strike Back] build, then [Wand + Pentacle] is recommended. If you just want Magnus to frontline, [Penatcle + Pentacle] is always a decent option.

Skilled not only in combat but also in military strategy, he is hailed as the very “soul” of the Kingdom’s forces. Once the close confidant and second-in-command to King Farris, Iria earned fame during the Iria War of Independence. Following the kingdom’s founding, he was appointed Marshal General and served as a military instructor to the two princes. After King Farris’s retirement, Iria took up the former king’s will and now aids Dantalion in maintaining peace across the land.
