Desert Biome Overview

Currently Not Implemented

The Desert Biome is an unconfirmed Biome which exists beyond the edge of the world. It is only accessible if you use cheats and fly in debug mode. To find it, simply fly to the edge of the world and drop down. You'll see vast plains.

Location Of Desert Biome

Biome Named "Ashlands" In-Game

When you find yourself in this biome, you'll see that the map refers to the area you're in as Ashlands. This is likely because aspects of the terrain are taken entirely from that of the (also not yet implemented) Ashlands Biome. You can even find the same singular enemy in both biomes: The Surtling.

Just An Ocean Floor?

Given that this "biome" is found off the edge of the world, some have speculated that it isn't intended to be a proper biome, but instead a placeholder for the ocean floor. This poses the question, however, of why Surtlings are included. It's possible that IronGate just pasted the biome as-is without changing it.
