This is a guide for the 15 Nightmares in NieR Replicant Remake (PS4). It also covers obtainable materials, how to play, and rewards.

Unlock Conditions and Location

Clear the First Playthrough

Unlock ConditionClear first playthrough (No DL required)

In Ver. 1.22, 15 Nightmares is unlocked by seeing Ending A (clearing the first playthrough). It's a high-difficulty dungeon so it's recommended to challenge it after you've sufficiently leveled up.

By the Bookshelf on the 1st Floor

Bookshelf

The entrance to 15 Nightmares is the bookshelf on the 1st floor of the protagonist's house. accidentally examining it can be a hassle to exit so avoid examining it unless you need to.

15 Nightmares Rewards

Weapons

A weapon is prepared as a reward for each door in 15 Nightmares. The Fool's series, while not the strongest weapons, have powerful stats.

Costumes

Clearing the first door unlocks the "Kabuki" costume, and clearing the second door unlocks the "Samurai" costume.

Bonus Quest

Quest Location

After clearing all of 15 Nightmares, a villager will appear in the Northern Plains. Talk to them to play a minigame where you ride a boar and knock away sheep, earning 100G for each sheep you hit.

Won't Appear if You Can't Ride Boars

The villager will not appear if you haven't cleared the "Boar Hunt!" quest and cannot ride boars. If you haven't cleared it, you should go and do so.

Watch Out for Sinking Platforms

The 5th stage is heavily action-oriented. The hit detection for the sinking platforms in the latter half is particularly strict so get a feel for it by falling multiple times. Don't forget to use healing items when your HP gets low!

Proceed While Using Dark Wall

▲A fully charged cast creates a barrier that envelops the entire character

The 3rd stage has intense magic bullet attacks from enemies, making it easy to take damage. You can safely defeat them by nullifying magic bullets with the "Dark Wall" magic and attacking with your own long-range magic.

Be Careful of the Boss Rush

Boss Rush

The 5th stage is a series of battles against bosses (large Shades). Their attack power is quite high, and they can defeat you in one hit around level 30, so be careful. The platforms are also narrow, so it's safer to fight with long-range attacks to avoid falling.

Paid DLC in the Original Game

15 Nightmares was sold as DLC for the original version of NieR Replicant. In NieR Replicant Ver. 1.22, it is included in the main game, so there is no need to pay extra money.

You Control the Protagonist's Father

Father

In 15 Nightmares, you proceed through the quests by controlling the protagonist's father. Weapons, items, etc., are carried over from the main game, and the motions are all the same, so the controls feel unchanged.
