Strategies

Stand near them to bait them to attack. Once they finish their attack animation, go in for the free hit if you're melee. If using bows, just fire at it from a safe distance. Repeat the process until you defeat them.

Recommended Armor

You shouldn't be getting hit by leeches very much so armor is not that important. That being said, upgraded Troll leather gear is your best bet for this enemy. Bronze gear is fine, but will incur a movement penalty for a very minor increase in armor.
