First Meet Archer At Rocket Hideout
You first encounter Team Rocket Admin Archer at the Rocket Hideout. You'll need to win against him to get the Silph Scope from Giovanni.
Defeat League To Battle Archer Again
After beating the Elite Four and the former Pokemon League Champion, you can look for Archer to challenge him one more time in a Pokemon Battle!

| Mewtwo | Mewtwo is an extremely powerful Psychic Pokemon. It can easily blast Golbat & Weezing away with its Psychic attacks. |
| Alakazam | Alakazam has a high speed base stat. Coupled with its Psychic attacks, it can hit Golbat and Weezing fast and hard, possibly without suffering any damage. |
| Starmie | Another fast Pokemon, Starmie can deal Psychic attacks against Golbat and Weezing and use Water attacks against Magmar. |
| Rhydon | Rhydon has very strong attack power and can dish out massive damage using Ground Type moves such as "Earthquake" and "Drill Run". |
| Dugtrio | Dugtrio has excellent Speed so take advantage of this by using "Earthquake" against the Pokemon weak against Ground and "Slash" when fighting against Golbat. |
| Nidoking | The combination of high Attack and Ground type will allow Nidoking to take out most of Archer's Pokemon in a single hit. Nidoking can also learn a lot of moves that can be effective against Golbat. |
