Fishing Rod - How To Get & Upgrade
Talk To Manuela
The Fishing Rod is not a craftable item and is not sold in any shop. You can get the Fishing Rod by entering Marcos' House. Entering the house will automatically trigger a cutscene, ending with Manuela giving you the Fishing Rod.
Where To Get The Fishing Rod
Marcos' House is located at the lower right side of the town, next to the shore.
Equip Using The Tool Bag
After receiving the Fishing Rod, you can equip it by selecting it by accessing the Tool Bag. While in the menu, select the Fishing Rod to assign it to a slot.

Upgrading the Fishing Rod increases the chances of getting better quality fishes. With that said, improving the Fishing Rod is recommended for those who like to fish or earn more money through fishing.

While facing the water and having the Fishing Rod equipped, press Y to cast. Wait for a moment until a "!" pops out, then immediately press Y to initiate a mini-game.

The Fishing mini-game starts by displaying a gauge that denotes your pull power and the fish's stamina. Pressing and holding Y moves the fish icon. To catch the fish, you must force the fish cursor to the top of the gauge. If the fish reaches the bottom of the gauge, the mini-game ends and the fish escapes.
Fish Better With Baits
Using baits makes fishing easier and may even increase your chances of getting high-rarity fishes. Baits can be crafted and you can increase your Crafting Skill to unlock more baits.
