Dragonite Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Aim for Multiple Knocked Out Targets Simultaneously
  2. Sustainable Long-Term Play with Non-ex Pokemon
  3. Frequent Issues with Drawing Evolution Cards

Aim for Multiple Knocked Out Targets Simultaneously

  1. Dragonite
  2. Using Draco Meteor

Dragonite's Draco Meteor targets the entire opponent's field, making it possible to knock out multiple Pokemon at once. While this relies on some luck, it gives this deck an appealing chance to win against any deck.

Sustainable Long-Term Play with Non-ex Pokemon

  1. Frosmoth
  2. Weezing
  3. Meowth

With only non-ex Pokemon, it’s easier to buy time until Dragonite is ready. Pokemon like Frosmoth, Weezing, and Meowth are ideal for stalling opponents or drawing cards for better support.

Frequent Issues with Drawing Evolution Cards

  1. Dratini
  2. Dragonair
  3. Dragonite

Since Dragonite is a Stage 2 Pokemon, drawing the necessary Evolution cards is essential. Failing to evolve Dratini into Dragonair or Dragonite in time can leave your Pokemon vulnerable to being Knocked Out, which is a key weakness of this deck.

Dragonite Deck Strategy

  1. Start with Meowth for Drawing
  2. Place Dratini on the Bench and Build Up
  3. Utilize Dragonite's Attack
Start with Meowth for Drawing
  1. Meowth

In the early game, use Meowth's Attack to draw cards. Since this deck relies on getting Dragonite ready, drawing more Pokemon quickly is essential.

Place Dratini on the Bench and Build Up
  1. Dratini
  2. Dragonair
  3. Dragonite

Once you draw Dratini, place it on the Bench and evolve into Dragonair and then Dragonite. Dragonite requires 4 Energy to attack, so make sure to Attach Energy from Zone each turn.

Focus Energy on One Pokemon

This deck lacks Energy Acceleration, so it’s best to focus Energy attachments on a single Pokemon. If you have multiple Dratini, place one in the Active Spot as a wall for stalling time.

Utilize Dragonite's Attack
  1. Dragonite

Once Dragonite is ready, move it to the Active Spot and use its Attack. The target is random, but hitting 2–3 times consecutively generally secures the win.

Keep Dragonite's HP High
  1. Potion

Once Dragonite is in the Active Spot, it will usually continue attacking. Use Potion to maintain high HP and survive counterattacks.
