Zapdos ex Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. No Risk of Deck Issues with Solo Zapdos ex
  2. Victory Depends on Coin Toss in the End
  3. Useful as a Transition to Pikachu ex Deck

Consistent and Reliable Gameplay

  1. Zapdos
  2. Using Peck

The main feature of this deck is that it only uses a single Pokemon: Zapdos ex. With just 1 Energy, it can use Peck from the start for consistent early attacks while preparing the Bench Zapdos ex with Energy for Attack No.2.

Poke Ball For Guaranteed Search

  1. Pokeball
  2. Zapdos from Pokeball

Since this is a solo deck, using Poke Ball guarantees that you can draw a second Zapdos ex. Ideally, you’ll have the second Zapdos ex on the Bench by turn 3 if going first or by turn 2 if going second.

Victory Depends On Coin Toss In the End

  1. Thundering Hurricane
  2. Using Thundering Hurricane

Due to the nature of this deck, its success rate heavily relies on how many points Zapdos ex can secure with its second attack “Thundering Hurricane”. Coin toss results may allow you to defeat a tougher deck or lose to an easier one, so sometimes you’ll need to accept the variance.

Improving Win Rates Wwith Strategic Play

Although it ultimately depends on coin tosses, you can improve your win rate with strategic play. Think about how to use Attack No.2 as frequently as possible and how to deal damage in advance to reduce the number of heads needed to win.

Useful As A Transition To Pikachu ex Deck

Zapdos ex deck is easy to build, as it mainly uses cards that can be exchanged in shops. Since it operates similarly to the Pikachu ex deck, this is a good deck to try if you’re still building your Pikachu ex deck.

Pikachu ex Deck Recipe and Strategy

Zapdos ex Deck Strategy

  1. Chip Away with Attack No.1 While Drawing a Second Zapdos ex
  2. Place a Second Zapdos ex on the Bench
  3. Continuously Use Attack No.2
Chip Away with Peck While Drawing a Second Zapdos ex
  1. Zapdos ex

In the early game, use “Peck,” to gradually wear down the opponent while using cards like Poke Ball or Professor's Research to quickly find a second Zapdos ex.

Attach Energy to Bench Zapdos ex from the Energy Zone

This deck lacks Energy Acceleration, so setting up "Thundering Hurricane" takes at least three turns. Since attaching Energy to the Active Zapdos ex could lead to it getting KO'd before using his second attack, try to focus Energy attachment on the Bench Zapdos ex whenever possible.

Stall with Sabrina or Red Card
  1. Sabrina
  2. Red Card

Since getting Thundering Hurricane available takes time, use Sabrina to pull a Pokemon without Energy to the Active Spot, or play Red Card to reduce the opponent's hand size, buying you time. Be sure to check the opponent's hand size and their last played cards before using these cards to maximize effectiveness.
