Pikachu ex Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Strong 90 Damage Repeated Attacks by Pikachu ex
  2. Effective Control with Two Pokemon ex
  3. Limited Ability to Deal Over 100 Damage

Strong 90 Damage Attacks By Pikachu ex

  1. Circle Circuit
  2. Using Circle Circuit

The main card, Pikachu ex, can consistently deal 90 damage with just 2 Energy, without drawbacks. As a Basic Pokemon, it's easy to deploy, and once fully prepared, it can reliably deal damage from mid-game onwards.

Limited Deck Customization

This deck relies heavily on the Circle Circuit, making it difficult to include non-Lightning Type Pokemon. To ensure stable Bench support, it's recommended to include 4-6 other Lightning Basic Pokemon aside from Pikachu ex, leading to a mostly fixed deck composition.

Effective Control With Two Pokemon ex

  1. Active Spot Pikachu
  2. Active Spot Zapdos

The main Pokemon in Pikachu ex decks are Pikachu ex and Zapdos ex. These two Pokemon are generally the only ones placed in the Active Spot, allowing for a strategy of scoring 4 points against decks that lack Bench Attack capabilities.

Flexible Rotation With Pokemon ex

Since both main Pokemon are Basic Pokemon with a 1-Energy retreat cost, this deck allows for flexible rotations among multiple Pokemon ex. This approach is particularly effective against decks that are unable to One-Hit KO Pokemon ex.

Limited Ability To Deal Over 100 Damage

  1. Hurricane Zapdos
  2. Using Hurricane Zapdos

The Circle Circuit maxes out at 90 damage, even with 3 Pokemon on the Bench, making it challenging to One-Hit KO Pokemon ex. To defeat Pokemon ex in one turn or prevent them from acting, this deck may need to rely on less stable methods, like Zapdos ex's Thundering Hurricane or Pincurchin's Paralyze effect.

Pikachu ex Deck Strategy

  1. Start Strong with Zapdos ex
  2. Set Up Pikachu ex on the Bench
  3. Unleash Pikachu ex’s Attack
  4. Prepare a Backup Pikachu ex
Start Strong with Zapdos ex
  1. Zapdos ex

It’s a good idea to kick things off with Zapdos ex. Its high HP and only 1 retreat Energy make it less likely to be Knocked Out early. Use Peck to chip away at your opponent while you buy time to set up Pikachu ex.

Zebstrika Is Also Powerful
  1. Zebstrika

As the Evolved form of Blitzle, Zebstrika can use an Attack with just 1 Energy and can also deal Bench Attack. When your opponent has a Pokemon with 100 HP or more, try to weaken it so Pikachu ex can finish it off.

Set Up Pikachu ex on the Bench
  1. Pikachu ex

Once you have Pikachu ex, place it on your Bench and start attaching Energy. Place any other Pokemon you draw on the Bench as well to keep your setup flexible.

Unleash Pikachu ex’s Attack

Once Pikachu ex has enough Energy, start attacking with its “Electric Circle” move. If your Bench is fully stacked, you can repeatedly deal 90 damage per attack.

Prepare a Backup Pikachu ex

After your first Pikachu ex is ready, start preparing a second one. This way, if the first one is close to being Knocked Out, you can switch to the second Pikachu ex and keep hitting consistently with Electric Circle at max damage.

Zapdos ex as an Alternative Plan
  1. Zapdos ex

In the late game, you might consider using Zapdos ex’s “Thundering Hurricane” move. However, since it relies on coin flips, try this if you don’t have a second Pikachu ex ready or really need an attack over 100 damage.
