The Minigun is best used in Duos and Squads where you have teammates to cover your back during wind-up. It's best used as a secondary weapon for Solo mode unless.

With 12 rounds per second rate of fire, enemies would be hard pressed to move out of their hiding place without getting hit. The DPS is also excellent for destroying hard cover.
Unlimited magazine size
You can unload your entire stock of ammunition in a single spray without worrying about stopping to reload.
Includes a wind-up time
The Minigun has a brief windup time before it starts to shoot bullets. The windup is about one and half seconds.
Overheats with Continous Fire
6 seconds of continuous fire will cause the Minigun to overheat. During this time, it will be unable to shoot bullets until it cools itself down.
Miniguns are very loud
Miniguns have a very distinct sound when it starts firing so there's no way to hide your presence. Make sure to keep moving to avoid getting ambushed.

Alternate Between Shooting & Pausing
Don't just keep your finger on the trigger for the Minigun! Alternate between shooting and stopping it to stop it from overheating while in use.
Let it rip and close in
If you know that enemies are hiding behind hard targets, you can use the Minigun to destroy them as you advance so that you can immediately shoot enemy players after their cover goes down.
Use as a secondary weapon
Miniguns are not recommended for quick shot bursts. Make sure you have another weapon that you can use for shoot and run situations.
