Epic Games tweeted a reminder to players that the Fortnitemares event is ending on November 4, 2018 and hinting about a one-time cube event taking place after it ends.

Cube Exploded, Everything Became White
During the event, the cube exploded and everything became white, like an unusual space. Everything within it, players included, moved slowly.
Transparent & Shiny Butterfly Rift
While floating around in this space, you encounter rifts that resemble butterflies fluttering around.
Butterfly Came To Players
One of these Butterfly Rifts will come near you, and touching it will teleport you to the top of Leaky Lake. Leaky lake is now filled with small islands, with a middle island featuring rock formations.
Leaky Lake Reformed
After players touched the butterfly, players jumped into a battle map where the Leaky Lake was reformed. The islands on the ground should be parts of the floating island which existed until the cube event.

After the one-time event, new challenges called "Lil' Kev Challenges" were introduced. When completing the series of challenges, you can earn the Lil' Kev Back Bling, which looks like debris of the cube.

The Cube can be found underneath the floating island. It is the one lifting up the island, allowing it to move around the map.
Aug 23, 2018: The Cube Appears In Fortnite
The Cube spawned near Paradise Palms, and has moved around the map creating runes that emit low gravity domes. It has also lifted up the island in Leaky Lake (formerly known as Loot Lake).
