Luxray & Volkner Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Powerful 120-damage Bench Attack
  2. Volkner enables quick 2-Energy acceleration
  3. Managing opponent’s HP is key

Powerful 120-Damage Bench Attack

The strength of a Volkner deck featuring Luxray lies in its game plan centered around a 120-damage Bench Attack. Since it can directly target the Bench, it is especially effective against strategies relying on switching out Pokemon.

Volkner Enables Quick 2-Energy Acceleration

With Volkner, you can attach two discarded Lightning Energy to Luxray, making it an extremely powerful play. Combined with Energy from the Attach Energy from Zone effect, Luxray can continuously use its attack.

Managing Opponent’s HP is key

Luxray’s 120 damage can One-Hit KO most Single-Prize Pokemon and leave Pokemon ex with minimal HP. To secure three Prize Cards in two turns, efficiently chipping away at the opponent’s HP is crucial.

Luxray & Volkner Deck Strategy

  1. Use Druddigon as a wall early on
  2. Reduce opponent’s HP with Lopunny
  3. Spam Luxray's Attack
Use Druddigon as a Wall Early On
  1. Druddigon
  2. Rocky Helmet

Use Druddigon as a wall to buy time while dealing small damage to attacking opponents. If you can equip Rocky Helmet, low-HP Pokemon will struggle to attack.

Reduce Opponent’s HP with Lopunny
  1. Lopunny

While preparing Luxray on the Bench, if Druddigon is knocked out, use Lopunny to lower the HP of the opponent’s Bench Pokemon to 120 or less. If Lopunny can take out a Pokemon, that’s even better.

Spam Luxray's Attack
  1. Luxray
  2. Volkner

Once Luxray is ready, start attacking to score knockouts. With Volkner, you can Attach Energy from Zone to set up 3 Energy quickly, allowing Luxray to keep attacking.

Consider Retreating Druddigon

If the opponent ignores Druddigon, and you have Volkner in hand, consider retreating Druddigon. By using Volkner to recover discarded Energy, Luxray can attack even with just 1 Energy attached.
