How to Use Koga

Reuse Weezing

  1. Weezing
  2. Koffing

Koga allows the player to put Weezing or Muk back to hand including their Basic Pokemon, Koffing or Grimer. Since the attached Energy will be lost, it is efficient to select Weezing that requires less Energy to Attack.

Powerful If You Have 2 Koffing

When you collect Weezing from the active spot with Koga and have Koffing on the bench, you can summon another full HP Weezing. Put Koffing on the active spot and evolve using Weezing collected with Koga. This technique allows players to endure and deal decent damage with the Gas Leak.

Koga Pros and Cons

Return Active Spot Pokemon to Your Hand

Koga’s effect lets you return your Active Spot Muk or Weezing to your hand. Although the target options are limited, this is a unique and valuable ability.

Avoid Knock Outs

If Muk or Weezing’s HP is low, using Koga can prevent them from being Knocked Out. However, remember that they’ll need to evolve again afterward.

Pre-Evolved Pokemon Are Also Returned

When using Koga’s effect to return Muk or Weezing to your hand, the pre-evolved Grimer or Koffing also returns with them.

Can Function as a Substitute for Switching

After using Weezing’s Ability to poison the opponent, you may want to switch to Muk, whose Attack deals extra damage if the target is poisoned. Since Weezing has a high retreat cost (3 Energy), Koga’s effect can effectively switch them by returning Weezing to your hand while letting Muk move into the Active Spot.
