Darkrai ex & Weezing Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Darkrai + Weezing’s sustained damage
  2. Basic + Stage 1 build reduces bad hands
  3. Cyrus Synergizes with Weezing's Damage

Darkrai + Weezing’s Sustained Damage

This deck utilizes the Ability of Darkrai ex to deal passive damage while Weezing keeps applying additional pressure.

Rocky Helmet Increases Threat

If Weezing is equipped with Rocky Helmet, opponents must choose between taking damage from its attacks or knocking it out.

However, be aware that using Koga to retrieve Weezing will discard the attached Rocky Helmet.

Basic + Stage 1 Build Reduces Bad Hands

A key advantage of the Darkrai ex + Weezing deck is that it relies only on Basic and Stage 1 Pokemon, making it more consistent compared to decks that require Stage 2 evolutions or multiple Stage 1 lines.

Koffing’s Attack Enables Deck Thinning

Koffing can call another Koffing from the deck onto the Bench, providing minor deck thinning benefits.

Cyrus Synergizes with Weezing's Damage

Since Weezing often leaves opponents just short of a knockout, Cyrus becomes highly effective. The synergy with Spiritomb also gives you more control.

Darkrai ex & Weezing Deck Strategy

  1. Use Weezing in the early game
  2. Evolve Darkrai ex on the Bench
  3. Follow the 1-1-2 Attack Plan
Use Weezing in the Early Game
  1. Koffing (Mythical Island)
  2. Weezing
  3. Spiritomb

In the early game, use Weezing and Spiritomb to battle. If possible, use Koffing’s "Division" Attack to move it to the Bench.

Prevent Weezing's Knock Out with Koga
  1. Koga

When Weezing’s HP starts to drop, use Koga to retrieve Weezing and prevent it from being knocked out. You can also use it as a card to switch Weezing with a Bench Pokemon.

Evolve Darkrai ex on the Bench
  1. Darkrai ex

While fighting with Weezing, grow Darkrai ex on the Bench. Thanks to its Ability, Darkrai ex can deal 20 damage to the opponent’s Active Spot each time you attach a Darkness Energy, also supporting Weezing’s damage output.

Follow the 1-1-2 Attack Plan
  1. Darkrai ex
  2. Cyrus

To follow the basic 1-1-2 point plan, once both Weezing are knocked out and your wall Pokemon is knocked out, bring Darkrai ex into the Active Spot. If Darkrai ex's attack doesn't knock out the opponent and they retreat to the Bench, use Cyrus to bring them back, setting them up for a potential knockout.

Consider a 2-2 Point Plan

If you haven’t lost any points by retrieving Weezing with Koga and can prepare a second Darkrai ex, you can consider using the 2-2 point plan. However, confirm that your opponent hasn’t taken any points with their Cyrus before proceeding.
