How to Use Z-Moves?

Z-Moves Can Only Be Used Once Per Battle

Z-Moves are a battle element introduced in Sun and Moon. By a Trainer overlaying their feelings onto their Pokemon and unleashing their combined full power, they can use these moves of immense power, usable only once per battle.

Cannot Be Used Simultaneously with Mega Evolution

Any Pokemon can use a Z-Move as long as it holds a Z-Crystal that matches one of its move types. However, since the Pokemon needs to hold the Z-Crystal, it cannot be used simultaneously with Mega Evolution, which also requires a held item.

All Moves, Including Status Moves, Are Powered Up

Unlike offensive moves, the names of status moves do not change when designated as a Z-Move. However, they are definitely enhanced in the form of "activating an additional effect," so using a Z-Move powers up almost all moves.

New Z-Moves Added in USUM!

In Pokemon USUM, multiple new Z-Moves that were not in the previous games will appear. The Z-Ring needed to use Z-Moves has been powered up to the "Z-Power Ring" in Pokemon USUM.
