Best Deck Tier List

Venusaur ex & Weezing Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Weezing has great HP decreasing ability
  2. The attack of Venusaur Ex is really strong.
  3. With supports like Koga and Erica, you can stall the battle.

Poisonous Wall Weezing

  1. Pokemon TCG Pocket - Gas Leak
  2. Pokemon TCG Pocket - Poisoned

Weezing only needs 1energy to attack and has the ability to poison the enemy at the same time, so it is very good as an opener. By allowing Weezing to open the match with his attack and ability, he can make up for Venusaur ex's relatively low damage output.

The use of Darkness Energy is optional

If you want to be able to use Venusaur Ex's Giant Bloom more consistently, you can opt to remove Darkness Energy to make sure Venusaur always has enough Grass Energy. However, since Weezing will no longer be able to attack, the burden on Venusaur Ex will be greater during the mid-late game.

Attack of Venusaur Ex is really powerful

  1. Pokemon TCG Pocket - Giant Bloom
  2. Pokemon TCG Pocket - Venusaur Heal

Venusaur Ex can easily 2HKO most Pokemon by starting with Razor Leaf, and then closing with a Giant Bloom next turn. Giant Bloom is especially powerful since it also heals Venusaur Ex.

Tenacious Supports

  1. Erika
  2. Koga

2 copies each of both Erika and Koga are included in the deck for added survivability. While limited in use, each card drastically increases the tenacity of this deck, making it very difficult for the opponent to score points when used in a timely manner.

Susceptible to OHKO

Erika and Koga are cards that support injured Pokemon. Therefore, if your opponent is using a Pokemon like Charizard ex that can one shot your Pokemon, it becomes difficult to play these cards.

Venusaur ex & Weezing Deck Strategy

  1. Stall Opponent with Weezing
  2. Prepare Venusaur ex on the Bench
  3. Outlast Opponent
Stall with Weezing
  1. Weezing
  2. Koga

Quickly evolve Koffing into Weezing and use it to wear down the opponent's Pokemon while preparing Venusaur ex on the bench. Then use Koga to replace Weezing when the time is right.

Prepare Venusaur Ex on the Bench
  1. Bulbasaur
  2. Ivysaur
  3. Venusaur ex

Build your Venusaur ex on the bench while buying time with Weezing. During this phase, you are highly susceptible to Sabrina, so it would help to have another Weezing as a wall. This way, you can almost guarantee having a fully energized Venusaur ex towards the end of the match.

Outlast Opponent
  1. Venusaur Ex
  2. Erika

Once Venusaur ex is ready to fight, move it to the active spot and use Giant Bloom aggressively. Because Venusaur can only deal 100 damage per attack, expect to knock out Pokemon within a minimum of 2 turns. Because of this, it is vital to keep Venusaur ex's HP high with the use of Support cards like Erika.
