Galvantula Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Easy to Attack and Get Points
  2. Strong Against Legendary Bird Pokemon!
  3. Overall HP is Low

Galvantula Isn't Strong by Itself

Galvantula's ability won't help that much if you treat it as the main card of your deck. It is better to include it in decks to support other cards such as a Pikachu ex deck.

Pikachu ex Deck Guide

Easy to Attack and Get Points

Galvantula's attack damage is quite high, and it has a powerful effect that prevents the opponent's Pokemon from escaping. If you can attack the same opponent twice, you can Knock Out most Pokemon.

Strong Against Legendary Bird Pokemon!

Powerful Pokemon such as Moltres ex, Articuno ex and Zapdos ex are all weak against Lightning, so especially if you're going second, Joltik's 50 damage + Galvantula's 90 damage = 140 total damage, can Knock-Out your opponent. Even if you didn't attack with the weakness type, you can defeat Pokemon with 100HP or less.

Overall HP is Low

  1. Galvantula
  2. Raichu

Galvantula's HP is 80, which is quite low for a Stage 1 Pokemon, and there is no Pokemon in the deck that has higher than 150 HP. It will be difficult going against Pokemon that deals high damage like Celebi ex or Mewtwo ex if you don't defeat them quickly.

Galvantula Deck Strategy

  1. Attack with Galvantula
  2. Use Joltik or Pikachu to Endure
  3. Transfer Energy and Knock Out Opponent
Attack with Galvantula
  1. Zapdos ex
  2. Galvantula

Regardless of if you go first or second, attach energy to Joltik/Galvantula first. If you are going first, use Zapdos ex to endure attacks and prepare Galvantula on the bench before attacking.

Earn points with Sabrina

Combine Galvantula's Attack and Sabrina to force the opponent's Pokemon without energy to the active spot to buy time and possibly earn Points.

Use Joltik or Pikachu to Endure
  1. Joltik
  2. Pikachu (Mythical Island)

If Galvantula is Knocked Out, use other Pokemon to endure while you prepare Zapdos ex's 3 Energy Attack. Once Zapdos is ready, retreat using X Speed and use a 3 energy attack.

Transfer Energy and Knock Out Opponent
  1. Lt. Surge
  2. Raichu

If Zapdos ex cannot Knock Out the opponent, use Lt. Use Surge to transfer energy to Raichu. Keeping Raichu in your hand until the last minute will allow for a surprise attack.
