Melmetal Deck - Pros / Cons
- Excellent durability of Melmetal
- Bisharp's Performance is Also High Water Level
- It's Tough When Your Opponent Attacks Quickly
Excellent Durability of Melmetal
Thanks to its Ability, Melmetal has higher durability than its actual HP. If you heal the damage it takes with Potion, it can continue to fight tenaciously. However, the heavy Energy requirement of 4 for its Attack is a drawback.
The Key is Whether You Can Achieve Energy Acceleration With Meltan
Meltan's Attack 'Charge' allows it to attach 1 Energy to itself, which speeds up the activation of Melmetal. However, since Meltan itself has low durability, you need to assess whether it can survive until your next turn before using it.
Bisharp's Performance is Also High Water Level
Bisharp is an excellent secondary attacker, able to deal 70 damage with just 2 Energy, making it a strong alternative to Melmetal. Additionally, its retreat cost of 1 Energy allows for a smooth switch after Melmetal is set up.
It's Tough When Your Opponent Attacks Quickly
Melmetal takes time to use Attack, so if the opponent attacks quickly, there are many patterns in which Melmetal cannot train in time and loses. Pokemon other than Melmetal's durability is not that high, and the fact that it is difficult to buy time is also a bottleneck.
Delay Possible with Mawile
Mawile's Attack can discard the Energy attached to your opponent's Pokémon if you get heads on the coin flip. Depending on the outcome of the coin flip, you can delay the opponent's attack and buy time for Melmetal to move.
Melmetal Deck Strategy
- Accelerate Energy with Meltan
- Mawile is effective if you go first
- Aim for a quick attack with Bisharp if you go second
The main Attack of Melmetal requires 4 Energy, which is quite a lot, so use Meltan's Attack to attach Energy to itself and aim for
If you go first, it's effective to send Mawile to the Active Spot first. If you can remove the Energy that the opponent attached while going second, you can gain a significant amount of time. During that time, raise Meltan on the Bench.
If you go second and have both Pawniard and Bisharp in hand, bring them to the Active Spot and aim for a quick attack. Including the damage from Pawniard, you can knock out the opponent in 2 turns if they have HP100, or in 3 turns if they have HP170..
