Kabutops Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. It's easier to win against low to mid decks
  2. It is difficult to evolve Fossil
  3. It Struggles Against Decks That Can Deliver One-hit Knockouts

It's Easier to Win Against Low to Mid Decks

Kabutops can recover its own HP by the amount of damage it inflicts with its attacks. Therefore, if your opponent has a Pokemon with an attack damage of around 60, you can often win easily just by attacking with Kabutops.

It is Difficult to Evolve Fossil

Since Dome Fossil cannot be reliably drawn with Poke Balls, it’s challenging to evolve into Kabutops. If you include Meowth for consistency, it may weaken the overall deck synergy. Conversely, if you don’t include it, setting up Kabutops becomes difficult, making it quite challenging to construct a deck centered around it.

It Struggles Against Decks That Can Deliver One-hit Knockouts

Kabutops is designed to withstand opponent attacks, so it cannot perform well against opponents that can one-hit KO it, such as Mewtwo ex. Against such opponents, it’s important to have alternative win conditions ready, like Marowak ex or Frosmoth.

Kabutops Deck Strategy

  1. Advance your draw with Meowth
  2. Grow Fossil and Cubone on the Bench
  3. Attack with Kabutops and Marowak ex
Advance your draw with Meowth
  1. Meowth

At the beginning, use Meowth's Attack to advance your draw. Dome Fossil is not a target for Poke Ball, so be sure to draw from your deck quickly and get it onto the Bench.

Grow Fossil and Cubone on the Bench
  1. Dome Fossil
  2. Cubone

Place Dome Fossil and Cubone on the Bench and aim for their Evolution. To avoid being called out by cards like Sabrina, it’s good to have another wall Meowth or Dome Fossil in play for safety.

Attack with Kabutops and Marowak ex
  1. Kabutops
  2. Marowak ex

Once Kabutops is ready, bring it to the Active Spot and use the Attack "Leech Life" to engage in a battle of endurance. If you're up against Pokémon like Mewtwo ex or Raichu that can One-Hit KO Kabutops, attack with Marowak ex.
