Lucario Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Lucario's Ability adds +20 damage
  2. Low-Energy attackers enable aggressive playstyle
  3. Marshadow’s Attack is highly efficient

Lucario's Ability Adds +20 Damage

Lucario's Ability increases the damage dealt by Fighting-type Pokemon to the opponent’s Active Pokemon by +20, making it easier to take knockouts. This effect stacks, so having two Lucarios in play increases the damage by +40.

Hitmonlee is Not Affected

Hitmonlee's attack targets Bench Pokemon, so it does not benefit from Lucario’s Ability. Keep this in mind when planning your strategy.

Low-Energy Attackers Enable Aggressive Playstyle

By focusing on Pokemon like Primeape that can attack with minimal Energy, this deck can aggressively defeat opponents’ Pokemon early. While low-energy attacks often have lower base damage, Lucario’s Ability boosts their power.

Marshadow’s Attack is Highly Efficient

Marshadow boasts an exceptional attack, dealing 100 damage with just two Energy if the conditions are met. While already strong, Lucario’s Ability further enhances its ability to take down more Pokemon.

Lucario Deck Strategy

  1. Do a quick attack with Primeape
  2. Prepare bench Pokemon for follow up
  3. Keep Lucario on the bench if possible
Do a Quick Attack with Primeape
  1. Mankey (Mythical Island)
  2. Primeape (Mythical Island)
  3. Riolu

Begin by placing a Pokemon that requires just 1 Energy to attack in the Active Spot and launch an attack. Since Hitmonlee can’t attack without Pokemon on the opponent’s bench, it’s fine not to send it out.

Prepare Bench Pokemon for Follow-Up
  1. Lucario
  2. Marshadow

Prepare Lucario and Marshadow on the Bench. Attach 1 Energy to Marshadow so that it can attack immediately.

Keep Lucario on the Bench If Possible

To fully utilize Lucario's Ability, keep it on the Bench unless it's absolutely necessary to bring it into the Active Spot. If the opponent’s attack is too strong for your other Pokemon to withstand, Lucario may be needed to absorb the damage and reduce its HP.
