How to Use Vaporeon

Freely Transfer Energy

Vaporeon's Wash Out allows you to transfer Water Energy from benched Pokemon onto active Pokemon.

Combo with Starmie Ex

Starmie Ex deals damage very quickly, but cannot stay in the active spot for very long due to its poor HP stat. It also has a retreat cost of 0, which means players can bench it anytime it loses too much HP.

Wash Out allows you to attack with Starmie Ex, and then retreat it to the bench while recycling Starmie Ex's attached energy onto your next active Pokemon.

This strategy can also be applied with other Water Pokemon + X Speed, but it is most cost-effective with Starmie Ex.

High HP for Stage 1 Pokemon

Vaporeon has a respectable 120HP for a non-ex, stage 1 Pokemon. However, it has a mediocre attack stat of 60 damage for 3 energy, and a high retreat cost of 2 energy.

Be mindful when placing it in the active spot.

Vaporeon (Mythical Island) Pros and Cons

Ability to Move Energy on the Field

Vaporeon's Ability allows you to move Water Energy from Bench Water Pokemon to Active Spot Water Pokemon as many times as you want during your turn. Compared to Lt. Surge, which targets all Water Types, this is a very powerful effect.

Synergizes with 0 Retreat Energy Pokemon

To make the most of Vaporeon's Ability, you need to switch between a damaged Active Spot Water Pokemon and a Bench Water Pokemon. This makes it particularly compatible with Pokemon like Starmie ex and Lumineon, which have 0 Retreat Energy.

High HP for a Stage 1 Pokemon

Vaporeon has 120 HP, which is high for a Stage 1 Pokemon. However, its other stats are typical, with an Attack that costs 3 Energy for 60 damage and a Retreat Energy cost of 2.
