Starmie ex Pros and Cons

Top-Level Attacker In The Current Meta

Starmie ex is a Stage 1 Pokemon with 130 HP, and its Attack boasts impressive 90 damage with 2 Energy—an exceptional cost-effectiveness that makes it one of the top attackers in the meta post-release.

Excellent Synergy With Misty

Using Misty, which allows for Energy Acceleration by attaching Water Energy for each heads flipped until tails, enables Starmie ex to deliver high damage more quickly.

Often Paired With Articuno ex

In a Starmie ex deck, it’s common to pair it with Articuno ex. By accelerating Energy onto Starmie ex or Articuno ex through Misty, an Aggro playstyle becomes possible.

Rare Card With 0 Retreat Cost

Currently, Starmie ex is one of the few cards with a retreat cost of 0 Energy. When a Pokemon in the Active Spot is Knocked Out or switched, it’s beneficial to place Starmie ex in the Active Spot for more options on the following turn.

Takes Time To Prepare As A Stage 1 Pokemon

Since Starmie ex is a Stage 1 Pokemon, it can evolve no sooner than the second turn after Staryu is played.
