Exeggutor ex Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Fast Tempo with 1-Energy Activation
  2. Strong HP Recovery with Butterfree
  3. Limited Maximum Damage Output

Fast Tempo with 1-Energy Activation

  1. Using Exeggutor ex
  2. Using Exeggutor ex

Exeggutor ex requires only one Energy to attack, allowing it to go on the offensive as soon as it evolves in the early game.

Energy Can Be Allocated to Other Pokemon

Since Exeggutor ex only needs Energy on the turn it attacks, it frees up Energy attachments for other Pokemon, which is a notable advantage.

Strong HP Recovery with Butterfree

  1. Butterfree
  2. Using Butterfree

Exeggutor ex has a relatively high HP of 160, making it resistant to attacks. It becomes even stronger if you can maintain attack rounds by healing HP with Butterfree or Erika.

Limited Maximum Damage Output

  1. Tails
  2. Damage when it hit tails

Exeggutor ex’s maximum damage is capped at 80, and depending on coin flips, it may only deal 40 damage. Consider using Giovanni to increase damage, or include backup attackers to mitigate this limitation.

Exeggutor ex Deck Strategy

  1. Start by using Caterpie to search for Grass-type Pokemon
  2. Develop Butterfree on the Bench
  3. Switch to Exeggutor ex once Evolved
Start by Using Caterpie to Search for Grass-Type Pokemon
  1. Caterpie
  2. Exeggcute
  3. Exeggutor ex

In the early game, make use of Caterpie's attack to search your deck for a random Grass-type Pokemon. This helps set up a quick start by building up your Grass Pokemon lineup.

Use Extra Energy on Exeggcute Line

Attach any extra Energy to Exeggutor ex as it requires 3 Energy for retreat. To keep the game flowing, prioritize Energy attachments to Exeggcute for smoother transitions.

Develop Butterfree on the Bench
  1. Metapod
  2. Butterfree

Once you draw Metapod or Butterfree, evolve Caterpie on the Bench. Having options like Sabrina to switch out Pokemon is beneficial, allowing you to better manage the Bench.

Switch to Exeggutor ex Once Evolved
  1. Exeggutor ex

When Exeggcute evolves into Exeggutor ex, bring it to the Active Spot. Though Exeggutor ex’s attack deals 40 or 80 damage with a luck factor, it requires just 1 Energy to attack, making it useful for aggressive plays. If its HP drops, use Butterfree’s ability, along with healing options like Erika or Potion, to prolong the battle.
