Scolipede Pros and Cons

High Damage to Poisoned Opponents

This attack deals 70 damage with 2 energy and it deals 120 damage if used against a Poisoned Pokemon. Including Poison damage, the total is 130 damage, which is enough to Knock Out most Pokemon.

Pokemon that can Inflict Poison
WhirlipedeGrimerWeezing

Since Whirlipede can inflict Poisoned status, you can set up Poisoned before evolving to trigger the high damage condition. If you are preparing Scolipede on the Bench, use other Pokemon to inflict Poisoned status.

Easier to Use than Muk

A similar Pokemon, Muk, also exists. While Scolipede is Stage 2 with a 2 Energy Attack, Muk is Stage 1 with a 3 Energy Attack. However, Scolipede is far stronger when going first, and it performs well even when going second. Overall, Scolipede is the easier to use Pokemon.
