Marowak ex Deck - Pros / Cons

  1. Easy to Maintain Tempo
  2. Effective Damage Thresholds of 80 and 160
  3. Importance of Winning Coin Tosses

Easy to Maintain Tempo

  1. Marowak ex
  2. Dugtrio

The Marowak ex deck's Pokemon require minimal Energy for attacks and only one Energy to retreat, providing a wide range of play options. Just keep in mind that Marowak ex cannot attack on the second turn if gains first move during battle, but aside from this, the deck's tempo remains smooth.

Effective Damage Thresholds of 80 and 160

  1. 80 damage
  2. 160 damage

Bonemerang is excellent for its 80 and 160 damage thresholds. With 80, it can KO 1-point Pokemon like Kirlia, and with 160, it can KO most Pokemon ex. Depending on the coin toss, a win in just two attacks is often achievable.

Importance of Winning Coin Tosses

Marowak ex's attack has a 75% chance of dealing 80 or more damage, so it shouldn’t be viewed as entirely luck-based. Each turn, consider ‘how to gain an advantage in coin tosses and secure three points quickly’. Adapting strategies is key.

Use Dugtrio for Coin Tosses When Possible

  1. Dugtrio
  2. Using Dugtrio

If the opposing Pokemon has 40 or less HP remaining, prioritize attacking with Dugtrio. This minimizes the chance of missing the KO, and the heads result will prevent Dugtrio from the KO in the next turn.

Marowak ex Deck Strategy

  1. If You Go First, Use Dugtrio; If Second, Use Marowak
  2. Try to Finish with Dugtrio’s Attack
  3. Don’t Be Afraid to Use Basic Pokemon as a Shield
If You Go First, Use Dugtrio; If Second, Use Marowak ex
  1. Dugtrio
  2. Marowak ex

Dugtrio is great for attacking early with just one Energy on the second round if you go first. On the other hand, Marowak ex can deliver a high-power Attack on the second round if you go second. This deck has flexibility so use Dugtrio if you go first and Marowak ex if you go second.

Try to Finish with Dugtrio’s Attack
  1. Dugtrio

When an opponent has 40 HP or less, it’s best to use Dugtrio for the final blow. Unlike other effects like Sleep or Paralysis, Dugtrio’s advantage continues even if the opponent switches Pokemon, so getting heads in the coin flip gives you leverage in the match.

Don’t Be Afraid to Use Basic Pokemon as a Shield
  1. Diglett
  2. Cubone

If Dugtrio gets Knocked Out early, losing Marowak ex later could cost you the game. To avoid this, consider using Basic Pokemon like Diglett or Cubone as shields when needed to protect your key Pokemon.
