Venusaur Pros and Cons

Attack That Heals While Dealing Damage

Venusaur's Attack deals 80 damage with 4 Energy, which is not very efficient in terms of damage output. However, its added effect allows it to heal 30 HP, making it suitable for a tanky strategy. With a high HP of 160, one of the highest among Single-Prize Pokemon, and the ability to heal 30 HP per attack, Venusaur can sustain itself on the battlefield for a long time.

Great Synergy with Erika

Since Venusaur is geared towards a tanky playstyle, it pairs well with Erika, who can heal 50 HP of a Grass Pokemon. This support allows Venusaur to survive longer in battle.

Lower Priority Compared to Venusaur ex

When evolving from Ivysaur, Venusaur has a lower attack damage and maximum HP compared to its other evolution, Venusaur ex. Additionally, the high Energy requirement for its attack makes it difficult to use both simultaneously, thus Venusaur has a lower priority compared to Venusaur ex.

Time-Consuming to Set Up Due to Being a Stage 2 Pokemon

Venusaur is a Stage 2 Pokemon, meaning the earliest it can evolve is by the 3rd turn after placing a Bulbasaur on the field.
