Grapploct Pros and Cons
Hard to Utilize Effectively
Grapploct is a Stage 1 Pokemon with relatively high HP of 130. Its Attack deals 70 damage with 3 Energy, which is standard, but it has an additional effect that allows it to switch the opponent's Pokemon.
Switch Happens After Dealing Damage
The effect to switch the Pokemon occurs after dealing damage. If you knock out the opponent's Pokemon, the behavior will not differ from usual.
Free Escape for the Opponent If Unsuccessful
Since the opponent chooses the Pokemon to switch with, if Grapploct fails to Knock Out the target, the effect will simply allow the opponent's Pokémon to escape the Active Spot without any cost. This essentially just lets the opponent escape a weakened Active Pokemon.
Use as a Secondary Pokemon
Considering the points above, Grapploct should not be primarily used as an Active Spot attacker. Instead, it is better used as a secondary Pokemon for weakening powerful Pokemon and stalling for time. or bringing back Pokemon that retreated to the Bench..
