Mawile Pros and Cons

Can Discard the Opponent's Energy

Mawile's Attack deals 20 damage with 1 Energy, which is average in power. However, if the coin toss is successful, you can discard 1 of the opponent's Energy. If you can successfully discard their Energy, you may be able to attack uncontested.

Strong When Going First

The most effective scenario is when an opponent attaches Energy and attacks on their first turn as the second player, and you can strip their Energy on your second turn as the first player. This is essentially like switching the first and second player roles making it a particularly powerful Pokemon when going first.
