Know The Advantages Of Each Path

In Honkai Star Rail, characters have different Paths that define their unique roles. Knowing the characteristics of the Paths will make it easier to determine the role of each character, so keep that in mind when creating your team.

Include At Least 1 Healer

Characters do not heal automatically after battles in Honkai: Star Rail, and neither are there Consumables or Techniques that you can use regularly to heal. Having a character of the Preservation Path to use the shield usually won't be enough to withstand all attacks, so we recommend having at least 1 character of the Abundance Path as a healer.

Recommended Abundance Path Healers

Bailu Auto heals fallen allies. Additionally heals other characters at random when healing.

Natasha Removes debuffs. Obtainable in the main story.

Keep Weaknesses In Mind

▲ You can see the enemies' weaknesses before the battle in some stages

Enemies each have their own weaknesses. By attacking with that weakness type you can diminish their Toughness Gauge and eventually connect to a Weakness Break. That will slow the enemies down, deal extra damage and even prevent their strongest attacks, so be mindful of this when choosing your attackers.

Increase Break Effect For A More Effective Weakness Break

If you increase the Break Effect, the damage you deal with the Weakness Break and the DoT increases, in addition to a more significant action delay. However this does not increase the amount of damage you deal with your attack, so keep that in mind when choosing your Relics and build.

Some Stages May Require Removing Debuffs

Some stages have enemies that use powerful debuffs, so you will want a character that can remove debuffs in such cases. It is possible to use Effect RES as well but it is not a definite solution so it would be better to have someone that can remove those debuffs.

Attacke Role *Choose enemy weakness

Natasha

This team is for completing challenges quickly, such as Calyx and Cavern of Corrosion. Go for a Weakness Break and use Himeko and Herta's follow-up attacks when the enemies are weakened to end the battle quickly. Choose an additional attacker according to the enemies' weaknesses. This team will especially prove to be strong in stages where enemies have fire or ice weaknesses.

General Recommendation

Welt

Bailu

Easy to use team in general, without considering weaknesses. Increase ATK while speeding up using Bronya to give Welt more chances to take action. This team can also heal and remove debuffs. Another advantage is that they can all attack different weaknesses.

This team is for early in the game, only using characters that join near the beginning. If you have other characters that you obtained or characters you want to use, we also recommend replacing any of the roles in the team. Natasha doesn't join until a bit later in the game, so you can also use a substitute Preservation Path character.
