What Are Tier 2 Tools?
Tools With Higher Capabilities
Tools in Grounded have a ranking system indicated by a roman numeral to the left of their name. As is expected, a higher tier tool will simply be able to do more than a regular tool, allowing you access to new Resources for crafting!
Cut Down Weed Stems
The Insect Axe will allow you to finally cut weeds and obtain Weed Stems! These are like the level 2 version of Grass Planks, and they will give you access to even more Base Building Options!
Harvest Mint Chunks
The Insect Hammer's main role is to give you access to Mint Chunks! This is a high-end material that is used to craft the Mint Mallet, one of the best weapons in the game!
Mints are found inside the mint container near the Mystery Machine in the center-left side of the map!

How To Get The Insect Axe
In order to get the Tier two axe, known as the Insect Axe, you'll need the 3 ingredients listed below. As you can clearly see, this will require some significant effort on your part in the form of killing Ladybugs and Bombardier Beetles!

Ladybug Head x1 | Bombardier Part x3 | Web Fiber x4 |
Taking Out A Ladybug
In order to obtain the Ladybug Head which is required for the Insect Axe, you'll have to kill one or more Ladybugs. In our experience, the Ladybug Head is not a guaranteed drop, so you might have to fight them repeatedly!

The second part of this recipe are Bombardier Parts, which are obtained by killing Bombardier Beetles. These are in fact guaranteed drops, but you'll likely need to kill 2 Beetles to get the requisite amount. These bugs have a lethal frontal cone acid spew attack which will likely kill you if it hits, so make sure to dodge to the side! Never attack them head on.
A detailed Bombardier Beetle battle guide is on its way so stay tuned!
Obtaining Web Fiber
There are a few different ways of obtaining silk. The most obvious is probably killing Spiders, which includes the smaller variants, Spiderlings. These can be found near the lake in the east of the map.
If you're not in the mood for combat, however, you can also get Web Fiber by beating on spider webs using your weapon! Of course, these webs tend to also be near spiders, so don't overstay your welcome. Get a few and then make a run for it!
Level 2 Tools - Insect Hammer

---|---|---|
Stinkbug Part x4 | Berry Leather x4 | Boiling Gland x1 |
The Insect Hammer will require you to take on and defeat a few Stinkbugs and Bombardier Beetles, while also requiring you to venture in the southern part of the map to retrieve Berries.
Killing Stinkbugs
The 4 Stinkbug Parts necessary for this item are obtained from killing Stinkbugs. You'll probably have to take out two here. The main thing to watch out for is their AoE noxious gas ability - move away from this when you see them begin to use it!

Berries grow on the branches of a tree/bush in the southeastern part of the map. Use your arrows to knock them down and then chip at them to get Berry Chunks. These can be refined into Berry Leather. One berry will give you 3 Chunks!
Obtaining a Boiling Gland
Boiling Glands will drop from Bombardier Beetles, but they are not a guaranteed drop! You'll likely have to take a few in order to get this item.
