Best Armor Summary

Best Armor Overview

There are a variety of armor sets you can craft and wear in Grounded, but if you are looking for what to prioritize in a new game, you can't go wrong with the 3 sets above. Acorn -> Ladybug -> Spider is a good order to get armor. If you're low on Berry Leather, you can always skip the Ladybug set, or make the Grub Set instead.

Armor Is Situational

What constitutes as the "best" armor depends entirely on what you're trying to do! Different sets have different bonuses that make them more suited to certain activities. Check out the table below to see what set is best suited for what purpose:

Goal/PriorityBest Set To Have
CombatSpider or Ladybug
MovementSpider
BuildingAnt

Remember to equip the appropriate Perks for whatever you're planning to do. Perks can enhance your combat, movement, and construction capabilities, so you don't want to forget about them!

Best Armor - For The Early Game

Acorn Set

Piece Bonus Bonus to Max Health
Full Set Bonus Uncrackable

For the beginning of the game, we recommend going directly for the Acorn set! If you want, you can of course craft a Clover set to get some defensive stats in, but in general it won't be too hard to break open a bunch of Acorns, even at the beginning of the game.

This set gives you the highest amount of defense in the early game and doesn't require you to take on any massive bugs to get items and is thus our recommendation early game.

Where To Get Acorns

Acorn location

Acorn Shells can be found at the base of the Oak Tree in the northeastern part of the map. It's worth noting that this area tends to have spiders wandering around! You'll need to move in a stealthy way and set your respawn point to somewhere nearby.

Where To Find Mites

Mites location

The Mite Fuzz required for the Chestpiece in this set can be found from red mites in the western part of the map. Just search the area to the right of the fallen rake.

Best Armor - For The Mid Game

Ladybug Set

Piece Bonus Bonus to Blocking Strength
Full Set Bonus Scarlet Embrace

This set has excellent defensive stats, while also giving you a good bonus to blocking. Given that you'll have to take out multiple Ladybugs to get this, we consider this to be a mid-game set.

Ladybug Location

ladybug

Unfortunately, there isn't really an exact place you can go to find a Ladybug. They are wanderers at heart - they generally roam the central part of the map. Just do a few laps around the central area and you should find one eventually!

Where To Find Flower Petals

Flower Petal Location

Flower Petals spawn randomly underneath large blue flowers. These can be found in the fenced off garden area to the north. This area is teeming with spiders however, so move very carefully! You'll need 6 Flower Petals in total, so you might have to come back here two times.

Where To Find Berry Leather

Berry Location

Berry Leather is a Material which needs to be refined from 3 Berry Chunks. These Chunks can be obtained by hacking away at a Berry on the ground. Berries are found in the bottom right part of the map. You'll have to have the bow here to shoot down a berry from the tree first!

Best Armor - For The Late Game

Spider Set

Piece Bonus The Quickness, Movement Speed Boost)
Full Set Bonus Hunter's Prowl

This set, fashioned mostly from the parts of Spiders, is one of the strongest armor sets currently available in the game. Although we anticipate other strong armor to be added in the August 27th Update, this is currently the armor set we recommend all players prioritize building.

"The Quickness" will significantly improve your movement speed and allow you to traverse the map efficiently. If you're traveling long distances to collect certain resources, this set is an absolute must!

How To Get Spider Chunks And Spider Silk

Spiders & Silk

As you can imagine, the best way to get this set is to kill spiders! Since you might have a hard time killing Wolf Spiders, we recommend taking on Orb Weaver Spiders instead. If you have the Mid-Tier armor we recommended above, you should be able to handle an Orb Weaver one-on-one! They will drop all of the materials you need to craft this set.
